Is the light source used during syntonics important for successful results?
ABSOLUTELY! In order to achieve accurate and effective light emission production by the syntonic filters, the light source must be as similar to natural light as possible. This is best achieved in today’s lighting options with incandescent, halogen, Xenon, or outdoor daylight. There is no appropriate LED bulb on the market yet that emits the appropriate spectrum of natural light. Therefore, the spectral output from syntonic filters does not coincide with the 90 years of successful syntonics. Don’t be fooled by the marketing of the newer “Full Spectrum” or “Greenhouse” LEDS. Although they are a substantial improvement over standard LED’s, they still lack the balanced spectral distribution that can be found with incandescent, halogen, and Xenon. Our EyeLux instuments all use halogen bulbs. We are working on engineering an LED that will contain the necessary emission.
